I can be either a complete horror to consume media with, or the most amusing person you know depending on how much of a common entertainment pool we share. I’m not one of those people that feels the need to comment on everything through the entirety of a given movie or game, but I am however likely to start giggling seemingly for no reason. What happens is that my brain cross-pollinates all of the mishmash I have stored in my memory banks and then spits out things like this, which for most of the population make no sense.
The twisted irony is that while I dump all of my amusements into a pot and stir it up, I don’t often come up with anything that would be common enough to count as a “real zinger" that's simple to recognize. It’s all so thoroughly entrenched in a specific niche culture of people who just happen to like both X AND Y. They're the only ones to understand the nuance.
It's to the point that people who are around me long enough don't even bother asking me why I'm laughing, because I've generally come up with something off the wall which requires explanation.
One final example is a quick, crappy sketch I drew up awhile back, which relates to Resident Evil (4 and 6) as well as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. In the Resident Evil 6 art book, there are concept sketches of the extra costumes for survival mode. One of Leon’s concepts featured the merchant from Resident Evil 4 strapped to his back. When you interact with the merchant in RE4, he opens his coat and says, "What're ya buyin?"
I’d just come across the video below…
Go read my dry humor in C’est La Mort. Yes, there are funny parts occasionally.
